The MREA has been hosting Solar Group Buy programs throughout the Midwest since 2013, connecting communities with resources to use their collective buying power to save on the total cost of going solar. The purpose of a Group Buy program (also known as a Grow Solar or Solarize program) is to increase education of local residents about solar photovoltaics (PV), and increase market penetration of residential and small commercial solar PV through the power of volume purchasing.
Since 2013, the MREA has facilitated over 65 Solar Group Buy programs around the Midwest, educating over 14,500 individuals with our Solar Power Hour information sessions, and leading to more than 22.4 MW on over 3,400 properties.
